Case Study:
VeruTEK ProBoost Treatment of Heavy Oil Production
VeruTEK’s ProBoost chemical treatment, combined with a bucket frac and the use of a Smart PumperTMautomated fluid level and pump controller, developed and manufactured by Direct DriveHead, increased heavy oil production from 1 bpd to 9 bpd and significantly decreased oil viscosity. Oil viscosity initially was 7800 cP at the formation temperature of 38oC (molasses consistency). After treatment the viscosity of the oil was reduced to approximately 50 cP at 25oC (corn oil consistency). Based on visual estimates, the decrease in oil viscosity was sustained for approximately 75 days. Thirty days after the initial ProBoost treatment production decreased to original levels, then a bucket sand frac was used to open the near well bore perm field in the unconsolidated formation. Production increased again along with an additional 45 days of dramatic viscosity decrease. The 9 bpd production level was sustained over 50 days, slowly decreasing over an 8 month period to a current 30 day average of 4.75 bpd as of October 24, 2012. The Smart PumperTM precision pump controller and data acquisition system provided unbiased automated pump speed control and continuous monitoring of operations and production results.
